| History of Mpathy Medical |
In 2001, urogynecologist Dr. James Browning commenced a project to develop low impact surgical devices for the t reatment of female stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Dr. Browning’s aim was to contribute to positive quality of life changes for womenundergoing such surgery. Mpathy Medical was formed in the UK in 2003 and patent and product development continued. Subsequently, the company also focused on the clinical validation of its technologies, organizing trials in the US and UK and gaining regulatory clearance. Mpathy Medical Devices, Inc. was formed in late 2007 and the US launch of Mpathy Medical’s product lines for stress urinary incontinence, Minitape® and pelvic organ prolapse, Restorelle™, took place in May of 2008. In the fall of 2009, the company completed its SUI product line with the launch of Omnisure.™ The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) also granted Mpathy Medical the patent for Smartmesh™ Technology, as the lightest mesh in women's health.
